About Me:

I’m so glad you’re here! I am an award-winning speaker, survivor advocate, somatic educator and Jewish, lesbian, sparkle-loving feminist. My personal sexual assault case made history in the North American justice system, when it became the 1st to conclude with restorative justice through the courts. Since then, I have supported thousands in healing shame and transforming trauma. With a background in Social Work (RSW) and Somatic Sex Education, my work has been featured in Forbes, HuffPost, Buzzfeed, the Mel Robbins Show and more. I’ve had the privilege of delivering keynotes, workshops and training for: The US Military SAPRO, National Sexual Assault Conference, Fordham University, Vanderbilt University, Trauma & Recovery Conference, Women’s Mental Health Conference at Yale and more. I’ve also run multiple retreats focused on healing & mental health internationally, been the proud: Host of The Sensual Revolution Podcast, creator of ‘Sensual Wholeness Academy’ - a Somatic Coaching Program for women and non-binary folk reclaiming pleasure, co-founder of ‘The F Comp Het Club: 2SLGBTQIA+ Virtual Community’, author of ‘Re-Humanize’, content creator and subject of an award-winning documentary directed by Kelsey Darragh.

  • Karah, Support Coaching Client

“The amount of shame and self-hatred I was able to dissolve from working with Marlee was so huge. I have a more loving relationship with my body, a better understanding of who I am. After years of trauma and unhealthy relationships, I finally feel and understand my worth and what I bring to the table”

  • Blaze, Mentorship Coaching Client

“I’m a huge believer in mentorship. If you see someone who has what you want, ask if they’ll mentor you. Marlee was living one of my dreams - traveling the world as a keynote speaker on healing and justice & showing how trauma survivors can exude joy. I reached out and asked if I could hire her for 1-1 coaching. Together, we dove into a strategy for how I could build this reality for myself too. Our sessions showed me what’s possible not only professionally, but personally too”

 FAQs

  • Here is some more past experience & learning that informs my coaching approach:

    • Healing trauma & reclaiming pleasure: My experience as a survivor, somatic sex education studies, having assisted on retreats led by Indigenous elder Grandmother Kaariina, having lived and worked on Yasodhara Ashram, therapeutic writing and publication, anti-oppressive social work degree, having run international retreats and coaching programs for women & non-binary folk, leading consent education & violence prevention workshop at campuses + conferences globally, having worked at non-profit organizations focused on gender-based violence and eating disorder prevention, coming out as a femme lesbian late in life, research and writing on femmephobia & gender studies, co-founding a 2SLGBTQIA+ community club during the pandemic, trauma-informed yoga training & certification

    • Justice-specific support: My own lived experience navigating the reporting process, the court system for 3 years and then a Restorative Justice process. I fought for my assailant to attend therapy and we eventually met in a circle because that aligned with what I needed. In my advocacy work today, in which I speak at campuses, conferences, contribute to research publications & train law enforcement, I encourage recognition that 'there is no one size fits all when it comes to justice'. Survivors are not a monolith and we deserve a needs-based approach. Additionally, I've studied embodied conflict transformation, nonviolent communication & authentic relating.

    • Mentorship: I have experience planning and running retreats, fundraisers, impact-drive events, webinars, podcasts, virtual community platforms, social media platforms, and more. I've authored books, built a coaching business including online group programs and individual support and I've built a speaking business. I'm excited to be able to share support for folks diving into impact-driven, creative work!

  • I've designed these sessions to be for anyone who needs them. All genders, orientations and folks from around the world are welcome. I am committed to non-punitive approaches, which means that I do my best to show up without judgement and patience. We all have a right to be learning people and to have our humanity recognized, there is no need for perfection here.

  • I take a needs-based and collaborative approach to this work. That means that the sessions will be shaped by your needs, your wants, your vision and your boundaries. Some folks may want grounding somatic practices woven into their sessions, in which case we can absolutely do so. Others may be uninterested in that and may want to focus solely on mapping out pathways forward and exploring resources. That's great too! Know that the sessions will be shaped by what you need.

  • Each 60-minute virtual session will take place via zoom video. We will not record the session unless you specifically request it (in case you want to revisit some of the things and resources we discussed). You will also receive a follow-up email with related resources after the session. Everything you share will be held with confidentiality, care and respect.

  • Yes! You can book one session. For the support sessions, some folks may be looking for specific resources to support their healing or justice pathway. It's possible that they find those resources in just one session. It's also possible that after the first session, they decide they'd rather work with someone else. That's completely valid. AND for folks on a healing or reclamation journey that DO resonate with my approach, I'd recommend a minimum of three sessions. We all know there is no quick fix here, healing is non-linear and you deserve support along the way. If it feels supportive, it's always a gift to work with folks on a long-term basis too.

In the name of consent, you get to decide whether you'd like to continue working together after each session.

  • Great! In this case, I would definitely recommend booking multiple sessions as we can only fit so much into an hour. Start with booking a session and make a note of this desire on your intake form. We can map out a plan together on our call.

  • My work is informed by feminist, queer-led, survivor-led, non-punitive and somatic frameworks. I also focus on a balanced approach which bridges healing embodiment work with advocacy & heart-led justice.

To elaborate on some of these terms:

    • Non-punitive: Recognizing each person's humanity, refusing dehumanization, challenging cancel culture, encouraging nuance, steering clear of shaming & punishing tactics, believing in transformation

    • Somatic: body-centered practices that look at the connection of mind and body. In addition to talk support, somatic practitioners use mind-body exercises and other physical techniques to transform trauma responses, access voice & choice, build associations between pleasure & safety, etc.

  • Each session is $140 USD. For Canadians, that's $185 CAD. This rate is inclusive of tax. You'll be prompted for payment via Stripe upon receiving a booking link.
